Gas Logs vs. Wood Burning Fireplace

Both gas logs and wood burning fireplaces have their pros and cons. Wood burning fireplaces create beautiful yellow dancing flames and a charming crackling sound. They create a warm, cozy feeling that many people believe can not be matched by gas logs. However, they require wood. The wood is not always sitting at your home waiting to be used, and in San Diego, you can't just walk outside and chop down a tree. So, gas logs can be a wonderful alternative. Gas is conveniently in your home already, and it is cheaper to burn gas than wood.

Vented logs vs. vent-free logs?

You may have read about vented logs and vent-free logs and are trying to decide which is right for you. If you live here in San Diego, the answer is easy, you can only purchase vented logs. Vent-free logs or are illegal in the state of California.

Big logs vs. small logs

The next question you might be asking yourself is do I want a really large log to fill my fireplace or a tiny log that might be a little cheaper. You shouldn't think to much about this question either. Chimney Champ will help you determine the correct log size for your fireplace.
